The Grassroots Exchange and Mobility in Sports (GEM) project, led by the Hungarian School Sport Federation, held its first knowledge sharing exchange in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 28 April-1 May 2022. With the overall objective of the project being to use mobilities and exchanges to develop individuals’ competencies and organisational networks, the project aims to drive sport participation and mutual relations forward between 5 Western Balkan countries and 5 EU partner countries.

The project is focusing on sharing good practices, know-how in the field of grassroots sport, including school sport and physical education. With the goal primarily aimed at the school sector. Three dimensions were discussed and observed at our meeting in Mostar:

  • the association between the sport and education sector
  • physical education, school sport and physical activity in schools
  • peer volunteering in school sport and school physical activity

A little further west, in the heart of Dubrovnik, we also volunteered for the sixth edition of #DUMotion - Runners' Days Dubrovnik as it made its return after 2 years. Runners from over 40 countries created an amazing atmosphere for everyone involved on Sunday 1 May 2022.

The next GEM exchange will take place from 23-26 May in Madrid, Spain.
